Interesting question... for me its the never ending amount of tricks. No matter how good you are there is allways room to improve and do more stuff. So why did you get hooked on helicopters?

For me it`s going to events and meeting people. I have met some fantastic friends, from all over the world in the four years I have been a part of the RC helicopter community. What initially got me started with RC helicopters were two things, actually. My Ex, an electronics engineer, had a Bell 206 Jet Ranger which he taught me how to fly. After we broke up, I missed flying his helicopter, but there was no way I could ever afford to have one. Then one day I was watching helicopter videos on YouTube, and a video of Nick Maxwell popped up in my search. I though to myself.....( a toy helicopter? ) Then I watched the video, and I was hypnotized. I had to learn this magic. So I bought my first helicopter a fixed pitch mall helicopter, and soon discovered that it was not the way to go. So I purchased a Dynam E-Razor 450 from xheli, and after many crashes figured out how to hover. I never thought I would go as far in the hobby as I have gone, but I hope I will be able to go much further. :)

I'm with Feral here. If this was an easy hobby, it wouldn't be as much fun!

I always wanted to get into R/C helis, and I've been running versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator for 25 years, so I've developed a general sense of aircraft physics. Technology has advanced in the last 20 years so that now it is possible to buy an entry level CP heli at a fraction of what the cost would have been 20 years ago. Micro circuitry, Li-po batteries and modern CNC manufacturing processes..... gotta love it! ...... and planks require too much area.
