Mini Quads seem to be all the rage... small nimble, can carry full FPV gear, and cheap to crash... since I have a disco pro and am scared of breaking it, since the main frames are very expensive.. I thought I would give one of these a shot...

electronics are in... just need to frame and camera now...

it will be a bok230RE racing min-quad.. lot of people are using sunnysky motors and dodgy flashed HK esc's... but being in this hobby I have learnt.. buy cheap by twice... hence the T-motors

the frame is done by a guy in NZ, who's doing a masters in design, and his theasis is quads... heard some good things about them... the frame is G10, not CF, armes are replaceable... and its only $60usd...

not power distribution board... will have to work something out...

I have the googles and that, so I dont have that cost... the motors esc Fc and all in the pic cost $450, $60USD frame, $45 camera, +vtx

so about $600... but I have also gone your high end stuff.. if you wanted to go cheaper... you can go some $10 Hk ESC and firmware flash them with blheli and go sunnysky motors.. which would take $150 off the cost...

Looks good mate, I'm finding myself watching the Blackout videos more and more these days. I reckon a little mini would be great fun.

I was looking at the qav 250.. but hearing good things about the frame... also separate arms... I don't want to replace a frame because of an arm

Ok been a while but here are some basic pics...

      [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

As you can imagine it's pretty tight getting it all in... there was a total of 6 mm of height for escs I ended up putting 2mm spacers in to give me some extra room..

The kit came with Phillips head screws... I swapped them out... connect all the esc to one 4 mm bullet connectors...

I did a test hover in my garage at 1am Thursday... was stable enough... but thought it was a bit gittery...

Anyway started cleaning up wires when I noticed a few screws I had not tightened pretty much at all... explains the gitters... would have been causing huge vibrations....

I'll put up some pics when I have it all together without the fpv gear as I want to fly it a bit first and make her fly hire I like before adding the gear... that said fpv gear has been wired up and tested.. Using the 5v power from the vtx and using a step up to make it 12v for the camera..

Ok... test fpv flight completed... light was pretty poor and it was windy but it flew well... for those familiar with the MRCHC field I even split the trees with it...

Will see how it goes with better light but overall I'm happy.[IMG][IMG]

Being the first person to witness its flight, I must say that I am impressed. It flew very well. The video was also amazing...

Ok... this thing is awesome... with the CC3D in what they call rattitude mode, its a bomb... basically it self levels of the sticks are near mid stick and switch to rate mode after a certain throw... Since I was working from home today, thought I would get in a quick FPV... and by the second flight I am flying between trees and along a path behind me... slowly I admit... but man it was fun.... and since its so light and cheap props... I'm not to concerned about damage...

So all up that thing cost 600... plus you would need some fatshark goggles and receiver I imagine?

The goggles are the killer... as I said you could go hk esc and flash them with blheli - $50
      Sunny sky motors - $100
      Cc3d board - $110
      Props - $16
      Rx - $70
      Vtx $50
      Couple of packs.. $50
      Fpv camera - $50
Frame $100. Or go hk for like $20
      Decent antenna $75 optional

      Fatsharks -$500

You can go a monitor but it's not the same...

      Total excluding goggles

      Yep about $600..

Tho I spent $300 on motor and esc not $150

Plus I already had the rx, vtx, goggles and packs

If you get one that takes only a board cam I have one spare...

True... but you'll need to buy the vrx module for the goggles and a battery as they don't come with then
