Just got the word from fellow pilot Ron M. We are now an official AMA club. I've been asked and have agreed to be the club's safety officer. Our club is called "The Mare Island Flyers". Woohooo!!! This will add an extra layer of insurance to cover us in the event of an accident.

It's a former Naval Shipyard in Northern California. They used to work on nuclear submarines there.

BTW Stuart, no worries. I probably wouldn't know any of the places people list as there home towns on this forum.

Cool is it an actual island or do they just call it that due to the water?

that's cool, I think your safe to say it's a real Island.. if you had a long range FPV kit you could fly round the shore line..

what's the population and how many members of your new club?

The City of Vallejo has allowed a few businesses there on the North Island, but there are no homes. We have around 8 guys in the club at the moment. Want to join?

No boat trip necessary. Just land at SFO, and I'll take you from there. It would be about a 50 minute drive if the traffic is light.
