Not low enough! Needs to be another meter on the deck (muah ha ha ha)...

Just imagine clipping a skid on the deck at speed, you'd be picking up bits for hundreds of meters

Yeah seriously one little clip of anything at that speed - it would be all over (the place). I have to admire the guts of @Robert Gorham . Its very hard to fly with precision at speed - 1mm on the sticks can be the difference between elation or depression! There would be very little left after any incident like that.

I am by no means a speed expert but I learned very quickly that smoothness on the sticks is the key. I think all my F3C training when I was younger is helping me out with speed flying. F3C is nothing but total precision, can be frustrating at times however it makes for a better pilot. Thanks for the kind words Shakmeharder. Appreciate it.

Here is a Castle log from a 3.5 minute speed flight that makes this R5 go for those of you that like this kind of stuff.

      Cheers! Untitled.jpg

If you dont mind me asking, what speedy are you using in this beasty? This motor will peak at 160 AMPS for three seconds according to the specs.. seems almost like you need a 200amp to be sure?

I know a 120HV castle can peak at 160+ on the logs..

I'm spinning 3250 HS and only pulling 129 amps Max. I'm using a Castle 120 EDGE HV ESC with an added fan to keep it cool.

Hi @Robert Gorham ... ex-speed freak & about to get back into heils again ( 238 KMH with a faifa). What sort of top speed have you been getting with that beasty ? producing nearly 5Kw that R5 would be really moving like 240 Kmh ?? . Im just about to start rebuilding an monstro E need esc, motor & blades --- anybody got sme unused bits LOL sorry to hijack your thread mate

With the old Scorpion motor (4525 520 kv) on the straight and level I was averaging 225 km/h. I have not clocked the R5 with the new 630 kv motor as of yet however 240 km/h should be reachable.
