So F3C/F3N is the helicopter equivilant of a gymnastic floor routine event, but obviously done in the air, complete with judging, scores, and all that, huh?
It's not inconceivable that it could one day be part of something as big as the X-Games or other globally sanctioned medium.

Thinking of taking f3c more seriously. How much will be dependent on heli size? Is a 600 adequate? At some stage I realize I'll need to buy a 700 with f3c canopy etc.

Can i get by just making setup changes to head speed ie lower head speed / pitch expo adjustments etc on the 600 pro?

@Matty will be updating this section with relevant information. You can see the subject headings here http://www.heligods.com/forums/#f3n-flying.367 So under rules and regulations will be the appropriate area i imagine...

Ah nice! I'm keen for this, good to see that F3N is taking off and there are lots more events next year.
Nabil, im sure the heli you have would be fine to give f3c a try if you set it up right. Like you said if you want to get serious I think a 700 would be better though.

Yes it is good to see F3N move. Heligods are fully supportive of promoting and pushing F3N. Who knows i may even give it a crack.

Hi @Nabil , yes you can use a 600 pro to get into F3C and worry about a 700 and F3C fuselage when and you get to the point where you need to. The F3C machines and Fuselages are a large investment and I have watched over many a pilot progress through the ranks without the need to invest until they are in the highest class and are competitive with some of the top pilots. I recommend you seek out some of the F3C pilots in your local area and have a talk to them about what is required to set up your 600 pro to help you get into it.

Is there any following of F3N in Australia at the moment.
After Rhys's first attempt at 3DX was considering trying to get it together and have a crack at Nationals in Wagga this year. It just doesn't sound like there is any interest in it at all, seemingly more going to F3C.

Interesting question @Murray Wyatt . I thought F3N would have grown - they guys have put it out there but participant levels up to this point are a bit less than expected i presume. I know @Matty and a few others are keen to promote F3N and Heligods will support it of course. A number of reasons could be the problem...IE the drone surge etc. Sometimes with something new like this the brand perception needs to be considered. And when branding something like this significant effort is required to identify the target market (young kids) develop something appealing to them (how to present) advertise organize and run competitions which will motivate the target market. I will ask and see what @Matty is up to as he was championing this initially.

Yeah I was super keen for some F3N comps, but apparently there was not enough interest for the comps to go ahead. I feel like the mistake was organising 4 events all in a short amount of time. Some people would say they could go to one event, and some people would say they could go to another, and it ended up that none of the comps had enough entries. I think that it would be better to just organise one event and advertise it well, and more people may turn up.

Anyway seeing as all the Victorian events got cancelled, I think I might try and make it to the nationals in Wagga, depending on how busy I am.

Its hard to know what the reason is - I wish i knew. I wonder how F3N is progressing overseas?

Sorry, I thought it had been officially cancelled. I couldn't find much info about it and then saw this written on the FB page:

Interest in F3N events is still minimal, so it's best we put them on hold for now. This means there will be no events at AFF March 19th, nor at Vic State field (Darraweit Guim) April 9/10th.

There seems to be no actual post about it being cancelled though.

Sorry All, I was meant to get the word out earlier.

Yes, due to lack of competitors we have had to cancel these events, but there is still the chance that a F3N competition can run at the 2016 MAAA National Helicopter Championships in June if there is more than 5 entrants in the F3N class. Unfortunately, because there is no approved MAAA classes for 3D & Freestyle competition, we can't run any sub classes at the Nationals.

We will look to try and kick things off for the sub classes again later in the year, but in the meantime if you want to get involved and look at running an event at your club please send me a pm.
