I read where the Turnigy 9X comes already flashed with lates
I haven't tried any of the OrangeRX stuff. The LemonRx sats I'm using have been working flawlessly for the most part. The only thing I find weird is having to power up the heli first before powering up the Tx.... which is backwards from what I learned with the Blade helis, but it works.

      Good flying weather today...... finally.
I was able to get out to the park and give the 450 a good 2 runs.
2S run was smooth enough for low head speed. Apparently the rotor wobble was from the servo slop/jitter that was there before I tightened up the cyclics, that and/or the dampeners may have broke in and relaxed a bit.
3S flight went very well. I worked up the nerve to engage high agility, go high and do some ailieron and elevator rolls and hold some inversions for a few minutes till my heart-rate went crazy, then I backed off and went easy with it. The only trim issue I noticed was a slight nose forward kick during hard positive collective, but not enough to get annoyed about.
It was a good day..... No Crash! :D

Hey AWESOME!... your doing the rolls and holding your nerve. Also inverted fly!.... A rainbow could possibly be a good progression! Then move into tick tocks! they are also a blast! Your dong well by the sounds of it @Beaver

Rainbow would be next logical step. I nearly did one by accident off the first back-flip as I didn't have the rates turned up high enough and went onto more of a 10m arc trying to get inverted.

After a little more fine tuning, I flew 2S today...... the 450 floats real smooth now..... it reminds me of how a Bell 206 would fly. :D

More stick time... more stick time - without crashing!!!!

Yes yes! That's the idea. I need to be especially vigilant now that I have the 450 trimmed the way I want it and flying smooth........ that's usually when @Crash Heligod bequeaths a crash Curse upon me.

      Today's observation:
It's easier to fly in the wind with low head speed.

I can double check my findings easy enough... and I probably will today.
The thing just seemed to pitch up and down less with variable wind gusts at the lower head speed.

No such luck today.... Too windy, as in about 50Kph (30mph).

450 in the wind again today confirms less wind induced altitude changes at 2S. Maybe I just have the thing set up weird..... but it works.
3S had the thing rising and falling sharply with changes of wind and required more cyclic to maintain level attitude.
      On another note:
Chasing butterflies with a helicopter is an amusing sport, though it tends to require cleaning main blades afterwards. :p

It was an accident... I swear! It got sucked into the rotor!

One thing I hadn't tried before was to Pogo the 450 with the collective, so I tried it to see if the tail would shake loose. It stayed solid except for 1 time it kicked out an 1/8th of a turn and locked back in, so maybe I need just a wee bit more gain. :D

Yes - more gain is appropriate. Turn up the gain until the tail starts to twitch then back it off again... Tail holding is critical to confidence, accuracy and the ability not to suddenly loose orientation.

My reflexes are getting better. I just came in from flying the park.... It was windy enough I considered laying off the inversions and flips, but couldn't help myself, so I went for it during the 3S flight. All went well except for a couple of times I got sideways a bit closer to the ground than I wanted while recovering from inversions and looking like I had attempted low-altitude flips or rolls, but managed to keep orientation straight. It is interesting to note that I'm starting to fly just aggressive enough to get a modest amount of blade-fart going on. It is all, however, definitely more nerve-racking flying inverted in some wind.

Ha ha.... soon you wont be able to differentiate between inverted and upright @Beaver. It just becomes another orientation!.

I pulled the trigger on two 2S x 2650mAh 30c and a 2S 2250 mAh 65c LiPo packs.... $22. That should effectively add 26 minutes (benchmarks pending) of leisurely flying to the 16 minutes I already have with 2 packs (2S/3S) for a total of approximately 42 minutes of air time per session. Now I need to buy a bigger charger for sure. :D
Thanks to @Hellifun for the link.
