Autorotation only?

 

NO WAY.... it should be possible to be auto rotation only and i believe it is! Imagine how good that guys auto rotation skills are. How cool is that. Good find @The Dude !

 

I have seen this before, and he is in auto rotation. The updraft from the cliff, combined with his skills, kept it flying. Looks like a lot of fun too. The only thing I would have done differently, would to have started helicopter under power and then put into auto rotation after getting it out over the cliff.

 

I never would have imagined this was possible. One way to save lipo batteries.

 

Cool 30 min flight times

 

30 minutes?? Imagine a 14S 5000 running a BEC, you could fly all day and well into the night.

Would be a bit of fun for sure ... Taking off under power would be the go, but it would make the heli heavy for this having packs in it ..

Yes, if it had 12S in it. But for this operation, you could get away with a small 6S pack just to get it in the air.
