Hmm, that looks great - but I don't have a lathe handy!

 

was initially very tempted to buy a Chase, but reading all kind of mixed msg about the quality of the kit has me thinking. Could somebody elaborate, are there production quality issues?. Are they addressed as we speak, ? Design looked really good, but it seems the final run had some savings applied that seems to haunt this nice machine now...

 

Mines flying quite well & KDS have supplied any new parts required reasonably quickly &, up to recently, free of charge.
The upgrade parts were offered at 50% off.
Great little heli & a ball of fun so far.

@Mr Squiggle - where did you get the upgrade parts - Hunter doesn't have them yet..

I gather you mean metal versions of the 2 plastic pulleys ?

 

Last week Hunter sent me an email outlining what parts were what, with part numbers and the pricing. I ordered them & they showed up yesterday. I haven't fitted them yet
Yes, I mean the new motor pulley, first reduction alloy pulley, beefier first stage belt and the alloy tail drive pulley.

Will wait for Hunter to list them on his site - hopefully soon..

 

I hope he's offering 50% to all customers that bought from acme.

Well I was just given the lot...is it not required if running smaller tail blades..?

 

17t reduces the ratio to 4.17 It would be worse for small blades. It still boggles my mind why they would make this ratio! ? Maybe for those installing tri blade tail rotors
Stock is 15t for 4.77. Fine for any head speed.
The chase has alloy tail grips and thrust bearings, does not suffer the problems some plastic grips or non thrust bearing setups do. One heli i owned would develop elongated holes in the grips and bad vibes, they "upgraded " to a reduced ratio, imo to fix this, as apposed to the other reasons given. But im still learning, so may be missing something?
The only issue i have have heard of with the chase tail is the KDS plastic tail blades exploding. So this option ratio might be good for those wanting to run weak tail blades
A 71 / 16t for 4.43 makes more sense for those wanting lower loads in the tail running high head speeds.
I think 4.1 will just cause blow out complaints.

Is that because you're a nice guy or is he sending to all V1 buyers?

 

Some stuff is FOC from Hunter, the new motor mount for example. Other stuff is classified as "upgrades" (aluminium tail drive pulley for example) and is being offered at 50% price reduction.

No I should rephrase that, I just asked for all the upgrade parts and what you see in the pic is everything available $40
As @mr_squiggle said the motor mount is free and everything else is half price except the autorotation pulley.

 

I contacted Hunter - He's going to bring mine to 3DX and i'll pick them up on the weekend
