Gods Of Frequency Interference

    That damn heli god that sends down interference to your spektrum signal and jack hammer your heli I to the ground!!!!!!

    We went to a new spot today and my buddy went to take off and while spooling up to take off his swasplate started jumping up and down . Sso we whut it down checked it out..we found no issues..so he flew ..landed and I took off and was dping a Barrell roll and all tje sudden I blad bogged realy bad and rolled it back upright and the pitch started pumping up and down ..I started figjting it and try to come back to land .and the pitch sucked me down before I could throw the throttle hold on...and it pile drived in..after it piled in and we determine the cause was signal interference.we noticed our phones where jumping im and

    ..when we left I couldnt send or receive any text or phone calls ..I jad to rebootu phone..tjen we noti e tje mountain was surrounded by ups , fed ex , &other trucking companies that would be using high frequancy cb to contact there drivers

    so what do you guys think of this issue..anything you have seen before..any ideas of any other thimgs that may have caused this crash..very curious

      Yes, I have experience this on a few occasions with SPEKTRUM and so has Mark and we both believe it to be due to RFI from the phones frequency hopping however this is unconfirmed. Where we fly, reception is not the greatest. I have the feeling its more likely to occur when you are out of range an someone or you phone is just in range and someone is trying to call you but that is unconfirmed. When phones are out of range they increase their transmission power. Now it is recommended by most clubs to switch off your mobile phone when flying, but lets face it today that rarely happens. B0th Mark and I have very strong suspicions that interference from the mobile phones caused us to have a few very strange incidents and crashes, very similar to what you are describing. It was not the prime reason but we switched transmitters and receivers over to Futaba as a result. Since then we have not had one incident. and that is over 1 year now of reasonably hard flying. Mark can add to this conversation...

      + 1 .. To all of the above, All i would have to add is once we made the switch to Futaba it has never happened again... And also i remember when having this issue i flew the spektrum for a weekend while leaving my phone at home and everything was fine, next weekend phone was in the pocket and it all started again.. Made the switch to Futaba and i have my phone in my pocket all the time, Over a year now and no issues.

      I don't see how a mobile phone can interfere with your Heli
      at all boys as the safety officer to our club RULE 13 clearly
      states no mobile phones on the flight line they should be left
      in your car.so I don't understand. Lol but I do agree with what
      Ray And Mark have said. Plus how the frack are you gonna answer
      the phone while ya flying. The moral is don't fly near large
      phone towers especially with spectrum.

      I at times answer while flying... just pop the heli up high... lol its not that hard..

      If the phone was causing your Heli to crash you think
      how about some consideration for the other heli brethren
      when you walk up next to them while they are flying with
      There spectrum radios then.

      turn on airplane mode ..you should still be able to use Bluetooth..if not just make sure no one is in the air

      I know when it happened my wife was trying to send about 10 pics thru texting which are very large files...it all makes sense to me ..I wish I could afford to switch to futaba ,but I am disabled and on a fixed budget and barely afford the hobby as is...but its the only thing that makes me feel like a functional normal human...I only need blades,torque tube assembely , and a set of umbrella gears ...I will b down for atleast 2-3 months...so basically the whole summer I will mis out on..ohh well I will be back up again and ready to fly

      I was the buddy with the swash plate glitch, when this happened collie farmer was spotting for me phone in hand, when i spooled up the second time he was further away from me & i flew my full flight with no prob. he was next on deck & the rest is history,was weird it only attacked one channel pitch!
