Although I dont own any Gaui's, I like the fact that they have been proactive.

My suspicion, this will be a big gasser.

I heard it was a gasser. A red alert should always precede a big gasser!

Ah! Looks like they're trying to find a competitive edge against the commercial drone (multi-rotor) market. Good for them! :D

Or maybe some type of quad (a racing quad?) - they need to get into that market too

Way to hog the flight line at your local club.. 2 hour flights.. Does it come with free energy drink or other stamina / concentration drugs?

Ha ha ha... so true @Stuart! This is a monster heli! 7kg payload. I wonder what the speed difference is when compared to a quad of similar size! Ie it might have better high speed filming applications... and with a flying time of 2 hours! With auto stabilization, this could realistically be some kind of competitor for the quads. Think about it. A single blade is more efficient power wise. It is simpler. It will be less affected by the wind because its collective pitch.. Imagine that! A shift BACK from quads to helicopters for camera work!

At the moment a quad would not be able to compete with the GX9 for commercial applications which require endurance, for example, power line LIDAR scanning, ground mapping etc.

Then there is the logistics of battery charging for quads or multi rotors. Yes you can get multi rotors that sit in the air for 30 minutes, but, the price of their lipo's sky rockets.

GX9, just fill her up, and off you go.

my thinking exactly @HungryHungryHippos. @The Dude does not agree with me but with the right electronics I think it would be superior in many many ways.

The add says nothing about commercial application, just prepare for something big (which may be metaphorical)
