This is under testing and development at the moment. The head pictured has no damping, but this needs to work with all FBL units. I spoke to JaeHong Lee about his experience with it so far, Its good at 2700 and up, but below 2700 its to responsive and harsh (if i understand him correctly)But im guessing he is only flying with the Ebar, Ill be testing with Skookum, vbar, CGY and Helicommand. as well as KDS Ebar. (everything i own)The first prototype i have is great with no damping even at super low headspeed with the skookum.
Solid is about the only way id be happy to stick with DFC, or at the very least machined plastic/delrin links instead of the alloy thats on it at the moment. Otherwise HPS is my preference.

Heres a really really really dumb question. How can it be TOO responsive? if it follows the sticks 100% its perfect

Not sure.. Thats my opinion too, .. But thats what i think he meant by "too tight and hard moving"?
With any luck ill let you know by the end of next week how it performs for me.

Good read, I am looking forward to seeing it fly too! And hearing how she does with a VBar and the no damping, DFC head... I am neither a fan or critic of either, I just want them to work, whichever it ends up with!

Ahh man i cant wait to get it! good to see some more pics.... Not yet @feral but I hope hunter got it on its way to me today! Im sure Ill have it this week tho :)
I really wish they would do the servo mounts in Carbon! lighter, stronger, better crash resistance, looks better?. The main advantage of using alloy is the ability to tap a thread directly into it as apposed to installing threaded sleeves into the carbon.

The lipo load system has changed significantly since the version you see here. The tray to mount the ESC, RX or whatever is back on the front.,

They did an underload setup, more like a thundertiger, Ill post pics as things are finalized but its actually a pretty neat setup. they still insist on the heli been able to run mini tail servos as well as micro. I personally have NO interest in perpetuating mini size servos in this class of heli. The extra size and weight is no longer needed?
But a micro tail servo can still mount in either location, and when mounted up the front the lipo can come in the rear. Install rails and it could be return to a full rear slide in entry setup, Thats what ill be doing in mine!
I have designed a system that allows the lipo to be plugged automatically as the lipo slides in. No other way to make that work.
Ill be having the setup I originally wanted made for me regardless, Its the reason I designed a heli in the first place, to have features I wanted that were not available.

I prefer mini servos so am in favour of them... you can get a budget mini to perform like top micros and thus save a lot of $$$ in the build.

I really liked the front load lipo and the tray clip.. but have yet to see the rear-load system so can't compare.

My only query is why the tail grips are so small, most powerful 450's on the market now have much beefier tail grips.

I'm definitely keen to buy one.. price permitting of course..

      Fair points jockstrap!
I didnt mind the front load either, Id prefer it to take front and rear than under and rear. But got to make a choice at some point.
I kinda don't care any more, Just want my helicopter :)

They are not the tail grips I designed, I assume (HOPE) they are only there for the early prototype tests.
These are the ones I designed, Same style as the mains.

As a neat natzi Most of the changes i made for the second version of the prototype were for wiring and making sure everything could be neat. I went a little overboard it trying to keep the CG high and get the CG as close to the blades as i could for better cyclic. This didnt quite leave enough room to run the wires between the slider tray and the lower bearing block and other components. so i dropped the tray 2mm and raised the main drive components and their bearing blocks etc 1mm, this was partly due to increasing the size / strength of the tail gears, which was the other change..
There is heap and heaps of room under the canopy for electronics. Or atleast there was in the canopies we designed.. the bi product of aiming for low polar moment means all the components and mass are more centralized resulting in a shorter front end. so the nose of the canopy is empty. This is another concern in having the tail servos at the back of the heli. I designed it so that the correct CG could be achieved with the canopy off. This is with the tail servo in front of the mainshaft. placing a larger tail servo behind the mainshaft will significantly effect this.

It was quite neat already, just not as good as i want. I have a couple of pics of my first one ill PM anyone interested, but ill leave it to KDS to release final setup pics to the public.

The tail boom is still set to be Carbon on too!
