So where is the optimum position to mount a gyro? On the front? On the back? Directly under the rotor? What is best?

Where ever it fits and makes wiring easy is my preference

If possible on the model, then directly under the main shaft. And no.. the main shaft wont drive it's self thru the unit on a crash .... If not possible then as close to the main shaft as possible. But really i don't think it makes a world of difference where you mount it

I used to think directly under the rotor head. I thought it would allow for more accurate tracking. But thinking about it, i don't think it makes that much difference providing it is straight and in line with the model! I dont know for sure though. Can anyone expand on this? is it better to have it directly under the rotor head?

Close as you can get it to the main shaft would be better i think ... ie closest to the center of the heli ..
